APPLICATIONS FOR ADVANCED SPECIALIST TRAINEESHIP – MAY 2005 INTAKE


The Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST) would like to invite Medical Officers and other eligible medical personnel to apply for Advanced Traineeship for the May 2005 intake.

We wish to emphasise that there is a limited number of posts each year, which are allocated on a competitive basis. Applicants may be required to attend a selection interview by the Selection panel; non-residents must bear their own expenses for attending.

Applicants must have obtained the MMed or equivalent qualifications, and completed 3 years of basic training in recognised local and/or foreign hospitals to be eligible to apply. All applicants must be in service or have been offered employment by a local training hospital to be eligible to apply. Medical Officers nearing the end of their 3rd year of basic training and taking their Final MMed or equivalent examinations between now and April 2005 should apply pending their results. The Traineeship is for training in accredited training hospitals/institutes/centres in Singapore although part of training may be done in approved overseas hospitals.

Applicants should enquire at the JCST secretariat (Academy of Medicine or Division of Graduate Medical Studies, NUS) on their eligibility status. All relevant forms may be obtained from the secretariat. All submissions must be accompanied by the relevant supporting documents and fee payment.

Applicants may concurrently apply for a 5-year dual-specialty advanced training programme in general Internal Medicine and one subspecialty of medicine eg Rheumatology. In this dual programme, the Trainee is required to complete the general Internal Medicine component first. Details of this option are available from JCST Secretariat. Trainees who complete the dual-specialty programme may apply for concurrent specialist registration in the 2 specialties.
