Education & Training

• To develop and sustain a high quality specialty services in Orthopaedic Surgery by retaining and training temporarily-registered (service), conditionally-registered doctors as well as fully-registered medical practitioners who have an interest in Orthopaedic Surgery and wish to continue a career in Orthopaedic Surgery but who do not qualify or do not wish to be a Specialist.
• To ensure the trainee has an adequate theoretical grounding in Orthopaedic Surgery so to enable them to work independently at the level of a Staff Registrar.
• To ensure the trainee is able to gain practical and surgical skills enabling them to manage patients at the Staff Registrar level.

Trainees are required to take the Orthopaedic In-Training Examination (OITE) annually.

At the end of the 3 year training period, trainees will be required to undergo an exit exam conducted by the Chapter of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
