Raffles Town Club

College of Public Health and Occupational Physicians

Event Description

This year, we are also organising a mini-retreat to be held after the AGM during the AGM dinner. The objective of this mini-retreat is to discuss and formulate the Vision, Mission and Goals/Objectives of our College.

It is important that our College develops the vision and mission statements. These statements help our College focus on what is really important. Although we know what we are doing to help communities stay healthy through the prevention of disease and other health conditions, and the promotion of health behaviours, it is easy to lose sight of the big picture when we are busy dealing with the day-to-day hassles that plague all organizations. The vision and mission statements help us remember what is important as we go about doing our daily work. They also help us get on the same page on what we should do and how we should do it.

The vision and mission statements let us have a snapshot view of whom we are and what we want to do. When the vision and mission statements are easily visible, people can learn about our College without having to work hard for the information. Then, those with common interests can take the time necessary to learn more. Clearly, this can be very helpful when we are recruiting other public health, occupational and aviation medicine physicians to join our College.

Finally, vision and mission statements are also very helpful in having Fellows who are focused and bound together in common purpose. Not only do the statements themselves serve as a constant reminder of what is important to our College, the process of developing them allows Fellows to see the College as "theirs", ie. people will believe in something more completely if they had a hand in developing it.

Kindly save the date in your calendar and we look forward to your support and contribution of ideas in the AGM and mini-retreat. We would like to hear you and make your voice for the College counts. Please note that the formal notice of the AGM with all its information will be sent 3 weeks before the AGM date. Do avail yourself for this event
