CLINICAL PRACTICE GUIDELINES ON AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
Draft Guidelines for Public Consultation
The first edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines on Autism Spectrum Disorder in Preschoolers was published in 2010 jointly by the Academy of Medicine and Ministry of Health, Singapore.
These guidelines were retired in 2015, and the current 2023 second edition draft of the Clinical Practice Guidelines on Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children and Adolescents is now available for public review from Monday 15 May 2023 until 6pm Singapore Time on Thursday 15 June 2023. These updated guidelines were commissioned by the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Singapore (CPCHS)) in 2021.
The 2023 guidelines have been developed following extensive and systematic review of the current research literature over the past 24 months by a 22-member workgroup of professionals working in various fields supporting children and adolescents on the autism spectrum in Singapore. The 2023 guidelines have also been expanded to include older children and adolescents, and with new/expanded topics on Comorbidities, Education and Transition, Follow-up and Prognosis, and Professional Training.
The draft main guideline document is available here for review, together with a draft supplementary document (Supplement 1: Evidence Matrices) which contains detailed evidence supporting the Recommendations and Good Practice Points in the main guideline document.
Please note that the main guideline document has been written for professional use, and that an accompanying lay version for parents and other caregivers will be available at a later date.
We welcome all constructive feedback on these draft documents, particularly the main guideline document, from the following:
-
People on the autism spectrum/autistic people.
-
Caregivers and family members of children on the autism spectrum.
-

Feedback may be provided on an individual basis or submitted on behalf of an organisation. Please note that all feedback will be published publicly via a new document (Supplement 2: Public Consultation) after the end of the public review period, hence submitting feedback includes implied consent for its publication.
