SINGAPORE, 10 September 2022 - The Academy of Medicine, Singapore announces the appointment of Associate Professor Alan Ng Wei Keong as the new Master of the Academy.
Professor Teo Eng Kiong has completed his two-year term as Master of the Academy, a position which he helmed since 20 June 2020. The leadership transition took place at the conclusion of the 44th Annual General Meeting of the Academy on 10 September 2022. Professor Teo will continue to serve on the Council as the Immediate Past Master for another year. He took over the leadership of the Academy during the global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, and steered innovative new ways to support and serve our members, as well as further the relevance and growth of the Academy with adaptability and resilience. The Academy would like to record its appreciation to Professor Teo for his able leadership, dedication and contributions.
Associate Professor Alan Ng Wei Keong will serve as the Master of the Academy for a two-year term (2022-2024) effective 10 September 2022. A/Prof Alan Ng is a Senior Consultant, Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Clinical Director, Medical Ambulatory Centre, at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Associate Professor Ng joined as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1995 and has been an active Elected Council Member of the Academy since 2013. He has held various positions in the Council as Bursar (2019-2021), Assistant Bursar (2015-2016) and Censor (2013-2015, 2016-2019). Prior to becoming an Elected Council Member of the Academy, Associate Professor Ng served as the President of the College of Physicians, Singapore from 2011 to 2013.
His academic appointments include: Clinical Associate Professor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University Singapore) and Adjunct Associate Professor with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang Technological University). He is also an Elected Council Member of the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and a member of the SMC Credentials Committee.
In September 2021, Associate Professor Alan Ng Wei Keong was declared Master-Elect. We warmly welcome A/Prof Alan Ng as Master of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and look forward to his leadership and the initiatives that he has planned in fulfilling the mission of the Academy.
