In a move to obtain more participation from trainees and to allow the College to receive more feedback from trainees on training matters, the interim Council has proposed for a Residents' Committee to be formed with stipulated Terms of Reference to be adhered to. The Residents' Committee was installed on 31 March 2010 at the members' appreciation dinner. The current committee members are:
National CME Programme - Weekly CME Lectures
The College of Ophthalmologists has embarked on the National CME programme with the joint participation of the Changi General Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, National Health Group Eye Institute, National University Hospital, National University of Singapore, Singapore National Eye Centre and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, together with private ophthalmologists, on every Wednesdays (unless otherwise announced). An Education Committee co-chaired by A/Prof Ong Sze Guan and A/Prof Heng Wee Jin has also been formed to oversee the National CME programme in terms of planning of the programme, with assistance from appointed subspecialty heads. The format of the weekly CME sessions comprises of Basic Surgical Trainees (BSTs)/Advanced Surgical Trainees (ASTs) teachings and CME lectures for all ophthalmologists and trainees. The College will be a central body to look after the academic and professional development of our College members as well as trainees.

The College of Ophthalmologists will continue to work with SSO in organizing events of the College and of SSO in close collaboration to ensure that there is representation from the College and the Specialty Society.
The College of Ophthalmologists welcomes partnership proposals on academic events from its healthcare partners for the College’s consideration. Notwithstanding the requirement of the College to maintain its academic neutrality and focus, the College hopes to thrive in ophthalmic education with the continued support and participation from our healthcare partners.
