Education & Training

The aim of the programme is to enable the trainee to acquire the skills and knowledge in the following:

• Knowledge in perinatal counselling, neonatal resuscitation, newborn screening, routine care of the newborn baby, neonatel intensive care as well as special care of sick neonates.
• Develop competence in a wide spectrum of basic science knowledge, clinical and procedural skills while displaying professional skills.

The aim of the programme is to enable the trainee to acquire the skills and knowledge in the following:

• Attain sufficient competency to practise paediatric oncology in the community, as well as to participate as a team member with the various paediatric sub specialists in providing comprehensive care to children with chronic and complex illnesses

• To provide the additional number of staff to develop and sustain services in the Paediatrics department
• Provide an alternative career track for local Medical Officers (MOs) who are not keen on specialist training and would like to have a long-term career in Paediatrics
• Provide structured training for foreign-trained doctors who come for training in Paediatrics

Trainees are required to partake in the following exams:

• Oral Exam at the end of Year 1 (Part 1)
• The candidate is expected to complete Part 1 of the training by the end of Year 1.
• Certification of Completion of Training (Oral Exam) at the end of Year 2 (Part 2)
• MCQs Exit Examination at the end of Year 2
