Free Access of ASH Self-Assessment Program

As part of the Chapter goals of promoting and advancing the continuing education of our members, the Chapter will be providing its members with the privilege of free access to the benefits of the ASH Self-Assessment Program. Members are permitted to buy the 5th edition (Digital edition) and claim reimbursement for the amount of USD 455. A  top up is needed for those who wish to also have the Print copy.

Clinical Haematology (Adult)
Course Duration 2 years
Course Objectives

The aim of the programme is to enable the trainee to acquire the skills and knowledge in the following:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the practice of Clinical Haematology
  • Skills in the diagnostic techniques required in the practice of haematology eg Bone marrow aspirates and trephines, administration of chemotherapy
  • Management of hematologic emergencies e.g. leucostasis syndromes, tumor lysis syndromes, extravasation of vesicant chemotherapeutic agents
  • Knowledge of specialist areas within haematology such as blood transfusion, bone marrow transplantation, sufficient for general haematology practice
  • Acquire communication skills required for practice of clinical haematology
  • Understand the tools of research in improvements in clinical practice and the need for continuing professional development for the maintenance of standards of practice
Exam format
All trainees are required to undergo an exit assessment conducted by the Chapter at the end of the training programme. A panel of 3 specialists, nominated by the Academy, will review the training/education portfolio, log book and conduct the assessment.
