The College of Clinician Scientist in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore has compiled a PhD project catalogue offered by Fellows of the College with the aim to foster formal research training and cross-cluster collaborations. A big congratulations to Prof Wong Tien Yin who has been accepted to Fellowship of Singapore Natgional Academy of Science (SNAS).
The SNAS Fellowships have been instituted to recognize outstanding individuals in Singapore who have distinguished themselves in the field of science. A rigorous selection process has led to the identification of 10 candidates (from a much larger group) for election to the SNAS Fellowships for 2018.

The College of Clinician Scientists will be organising a Clinician Scientists Residents Networking Event which will be held at the Academia on 30 March 2017, 6 pm.
About the Clinician Scientists Residents Networking Event
The Clinician Scientists Residents Networking Event is organised for Clinician Scientists Residents who are in their early stages of their CS career. A panel of established Clinician Scientists from the College of Clinician Scientists has been invited to share their insights and experiences on mentorship, grants and career development.
Participants will have an opportunity to network, clarify and seek advice from the panel of distinguished Clinician Scientists.
The College of Clinician Scientists organised an afternoon seminar on “Funding Opportunities for Translational Research” which was held on 19 November 2016. This workshop was organised by the College of Clinician Scientists and in collaboration with the National Health Innovation Centre (NHIC), National Medical Research Council (NMRC) and AstraZeneca.
This practical seminar aimed to help Clinicians, Clinician-Scientists and Scientists understand the opportunities and practicalities of obtaining a translational research grant from NHIC and also proprietary drugs for translational research from AstraZeneca.
The College of Clinician Scientists is pleased to collaborate with NMRC, Quintiles and the AHCC Trials Group in organising the INVESTIGATOR-INITIATED TRIALS WORKSHOP.
At the Investigator-Initiated Trials Workshop, participants can learn various strategies to manage trials and learn from experts on useful tips to develop budgets, identifying opportunities and potential pitfalls. Industry will also be invited to share their perspectives on the kinds of proposals that interest them, who and how to approach industry, the existing review processes and the benefits of various partnerships with industry to address current research needs.
In 2016 the Chapter initiated the two prizes for the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair and the Chapter of Clinician-Scientists Award 1st and 2nd prizes went to top candidates in the Biomedical section as assessed by members of our Board. Winners also have the opportunity of doing a research attachment with members of the Board of Clinician-Scientists.
The Chapter is pleased to be able to contribute and hopes that this event would encourage more youths to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) as a career path and that some of the youths may even become future Clinician Scientists.
The Chapter worked with the organisers of the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair 2016 and initiated the Chapter of Clinician-Scientists award which has 1st and 2nd prizes. The Chapter was pleased to contribute and hopes that this event would encourage more youths to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) as a career path and some of the youths may even become future Clinician Scientists.
