To be a leading institution for postgraduate medical education and professional development of medical specialists in the region.

Advancing the art and science of medicine through:

1. Undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate medical education
2. Maintenance of high standards of competency and ethical integrity through continuous professional development (CPD)
3. Generation and dissemination of information and knowledge to the public on matters related to health.

The objectives of the Academy as set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association are as follows:

1. to advance the art and science of medicine;
2. to promote study and research into medical and scientific problems;
3. to sustain and foster postgraduate education;
4. to conduct higher professional examinations and to award diplomas;
5. to promote and foster an environment whereby medicine can be practised in a way that protects the sanctity, sustainability and elemental importance of the patient-doctor relationship in healthcare;
6. to maintain and promote the highest standards of professional practice;
7. to maintain a high code of ethical conduct amongst its members;
8. to represent, express and give effect to the views and opinions of its members;
9. to enter into any arrangements with Government or any other authority that may seem conducive to the Company's objects, or any of them; and to obtain from such Government or authority any rights, privileges, and concessions which the Company may think desirable to obtain, and to carry out, exercise, and comply with any such arrangements, rights, privileges and concessions;
10. to protect the interest and dignity of the Academy of Medicine.

As set out in the Academy’s Bylaws, the President of the Republic of Singapore shall be invited to be the Patron of the Academy.

“Per pale and per chevron Gules and Azure a Chevron cotised between three Leopards’ faces Or And for the Crest On a Wreath, Or Gules and Azure Two Eagles’ heads addorsed Azure beaked Or and gorged with a chaplet of Roses - Gules barbed and seeded in each beak a Poppy slipped and leaved proper”.

In the center of the Shield, the Chevron symbolises the coming - together of the Specialties of Medicine under one roof - the Academy. The three Pards represent the territories in the Singapore-Malaysia region. The two Eagles’ heads of the Crest remind us of the privilege we had of using the family Arms of our first Master, Gordon Ransome, in the early years of our existence. The poppies denote our common desire to relieve pain.

The Motto RECTA SAPERE urges us to seek and savour the truth at all times.
