As the body responsible for education and maintaining standards, the Academy has taken the lead to issue to its members practice guidelines and consensus statements defining the criteria for the proper use of certain procedures and practices that involve high-technology medicine, and specifying the specialists who are qualified to perform them, the training they should have and the optimal facilities required.

Developed by Colleges and Chapters within AMS.

These publications are guidelines to clinical practice, based on the best available evidence at the time of development. Adherence to these guidelines may not ensure a successful outcome in every case. These guidelines should neither be construed as including all proper methods of care, nor exclude other acceptable methods of care. In addition, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines are only as current as the evidence that supports them. Users must keep in mind that new evidence may supersede recommendations in these guidelines. Guidelines that have exceeded five years after publication have been withdrawn.

The COVID-19 pandemic has crippled healthcare systems and economy, and killed millions of people globally since its emergence in early 2020. Scientific research has rapidly developed accurate diagnostics and effective treatment, and tracked the evolution of different strains of SARS-CoV-2 since 2020. While face masks and social distancing have been effective in mitigating the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the return to normalcy requires a high level of herd immunity that cannot be attained rapidly by natural infection. Through unprecedented public and private partnership globally, the end of 2020 heralded the first evidence of highly effective and safe COVID-19 vaccines. The year 2021 is the year of COVID-19 vaccine implementation. Singapore started its national COVID-19 vaccination in January 2021. The College of Physicians Singapore is pleased to present a series of consensus statements by relevant internal medicine subspecialties in how to apply the guidance by Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination, Ministry of Health.

MOH clinical practice guidelines are considered automatically withdrawn five years after publication, or once an update has been issued, unless otherwise specified in individual guidelines. Users should keep in mind that evidence-based guidelines are only as current as the evidence that supports them and new evidence can supercede recommendations made in the guidelines. ACE Clinical Guidances (also known as Appropriate Care Guides) or ACGs provide concise and evidence-based recommendations on care practices and pathways to guide specific areas of clinical practice. Cost-effectiveness considerations are also incorporated where relevant. Where MOH Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) are available, ACGs complement the CPGs by providing timely additions and updates as reflected in the evidence at the time of the ACG development.
