The Staff Registrar Scheme (SRS) Diplomas have been implemented as part of the collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Singapore (MOH) to enable our public sector healthcare institutions to employ doctors who are not specialists but are able to provide a middle level of service equivalent to that provided by a Staff Registrar or Registrar.
Conducted as a structured diploma course with on-the-job training, the SRS accommodates:-
-
Medical Officers, who are Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents with a basic medical degree recognized by Singapore Medical Council (SMC), intending to work for a longer period in public institutions and not planning to pursue a specialist career or becoming General Practitioners;
-
Applicants are required to be currently employed in a local Singapore institution/hospital for at least one year in the relevant departments.
-
Applicants who are enrolled into the SRS Diploma programmes would be required to have a training supervisor who is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
The SRS Diplomas are under the purview of the Standing Committee on Postgraduate Education, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. There are currently 28 Diploma specialties approved by the Singapore Medical Council.
The Academic and Examination Boards are responsible for carrying out appropriate evaluations to improve and advance the quality and effectiveness of all postgraduate and continuing education programmes. The appointment of Training Supervisor (teacher) is dependent on the course specialty and the applicant’s institution of employment. Further details will be provided upon successful admission to the SRS Diploma programme.
