Dear College Members

On SCOPE Issue 2:  What’s Up Doc?

This year the Lunar New Year falls in January and it is the year of the water rabbit.  The year of the water rabbit is associated with relationship building both professionally and personally.  This being the first issue for 2023, I want to take the opportunity to highlight some of the plans this council has in store and to quote a famous rabbit “Eh, what’s up doc?”.

We will continue to communicate monthly through this communication channel and every council member will be asked to share their views in the coming months.  We hope to improve our website and our links virtually.  This can provide both information as well as support for our members.  We hope you will take time to read and provide feedback so that we can improve our service to members.

We will be embarking on a membership drive and one group that we want to focus on is our ordinary membership which we have none currently.  We will be inviting our residents in psychiatry as well as medical officers or medical students with interest in psychiatry to join as ordinary members.

We are developing a series of workshops and seminars that the various sections of the College will be planning and will share them as they are confirmed.  There will also be two named lectures; the Chee Kuan Tsee Lecture and the Paul W Ngui Lecture that are being planned. The speakers will be announced in due course.

We hope to review the MOH Clinical Practice Guidelines associated with Psychiatric Practice and update them. Our intention will be to choose three every year and will approach MOH and AMS for approval to review.

We look forward to working towards a better, richer community of psychiatric practice.
