LAUNCH OF MANDATORY MEDICAL ETHICS (MME) CME COURSES
ON AMS NEW LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Complimentary for Fellows and Members in Good Standing

Dear Fellows and Members of the Academy

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Academy’s Mandatory Medical Ethics (MME) CME courses.

Fellows and Members in good standing will be able to access the Academy’s MME CME modules at no cost via our new Learning Management System, AMS Learning.

You will also be able to access available learning materials developed by AMS via your ‘My Tasks’ dashboard. Please also keep a look out for other courses and CME activities organised by AMS, Colleges and Chapters, in the coming months.

Over the next few days, you will receive an email with a link and instructions on how to reset your password. With the new password, you will then be able to access the new AMS Learning.

Note: Fellows and Members in arrears are strongly encouraged to settle their membership subscription in order to enjoy the full access to the materials and courses.

The Singapore Medical Council (SMC) announced in a circular on 11 May 2023, that compulsory CME for Medical Ethics would be required for Practising Certificate (PC) renewal in 2026 onwards.

Doctors can submit the required Medical Ethics core points from 1 January 2024 for those whose PCs end on 31 December 2023. For doctors whose PCs end on 31 December 2024, they can submit from 1 January 2025.

For doctors who renew their PCs two yearly, 5 Mandatory Medical Ethics (MME) CME core points are required and for those who renew their PCs for only one year, 3 medical ethics core points are required to be submitted.

We are pleased to inform our Fellows and Members that:

  • The first batch of online self-learning modules (CAT 3B) has been published on our Calendar of CME/CPD Events Page as well as in the AMS Learning to facilitate you in attaining your Medical Ethics core points.

  • For every successful completion of a module, one MME core CME point will be awarded. Doctors with PCs expiring on 31 Dec 2025 onwards will be given MME points by SMC. For PCs expiring on 31 Dec 2024, you will not be given MME CME Core points but non-core Cat 3B CME for completing the module. Please refer to the SMC CME Requirements website for more details.

  • The Academy is continually striving to develop and produce more CME content in the coming months for members to enjoy a wide selection of modules to access and attempt in order to meet your PC requirements for renewal come 2026. Please keep a look out via our Calendar of CME/CPD Events Page.
