The College of Dental Surgeons, Singapore is pleased to invite you to a lecture titled “Antithrombotics and Dentistry – The Clot Thickens”.
The lecture is organized by the College of Dental Surgeons, Singapore and the speaker of the event is Dr Winston Tan, Chair of the Chapter of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
In recent years, the field of antithrombotic and anticoagulation medication (ATM) has seen significant change. There has been increasing use of non-traditional drugs in patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. The dentist is now confronted with a patient with an increased propensity to bleed and a difficult conundrum: To keep the patient on ATM and risk prolonged bleeding, ecchymosis and swelling? On the other hand, stop ATM, with the risk of thrombus formation?
To help answer these questions, the College of Dental Surgeons Singapore has formed a task group with the aim of providing evidence-based guidelines in managing dental patients on antithrombotic and anticoagulation medications. The findings and recommendations of the workgroup will be presented in these lectures and will provide all dental practitioners, general dentists or specialists alike, with up-to-date and evidence-based guidelines to help you manage such patients in your dental practice.
